Man's Girlfriend Irrationally Freaks Out After His Sister Orders The Same Dish As Her At A Restaurant

We love going out to eat. There's nothing like scanning a menu until our eyes connect with a dish that has us drooling before it even arrives at the table. We especially love going to restaurants to celebrate special occasions, such as a wedding or graduation. When we go out, we expect nothing but good vibes, sweet cocktails, and delicious food. However, if there's one person there that makes everything dramatic, it will definitely bring down the vibe of what was expected to be a wonderful night. In today's 'Am I the A$$hole?' post, there was one member of the dinner party that made everything about herself and ruined the ambiance of the restaurant for everyone else as a result. OP's brother took his girlfriend to meet the family for the first time, and she got visibly upset when OP ordered the same dish as her. Super weird, right? Scroll down to read all the details.

    Font - My brother has a new girlfriend and my grandparents, my parents and me went out to dinner to meet her. When everyone was going over the menus and I said my choice, his girlfriend said oh that's what I was going to order. She went back to the menu again but kept coming back to her that dish asked me if I was sure to which I said I was. My brother asked me if I could choose something else because his girlfriend really wanted to try that dish but right then the waiter came by and we ordered.

    Font - His girlfriend was definitely upset I ordered the same dish and asked me after the waiter left if I was sure again before my grandma changed the subject. Both her and my brother were tense and the rest of the night was awkward. My nana ordered the same dish as my mom and his girlfriend asked both of them if they were sure but she didn't say anything else after they both said yes.     Font - upset. It wasn't limited edition. Imagine going to a pub and ordering wings or nachos. There's always enough. It wasn't a special or rare dish. It was good but you can get this type of dish at many restaurants. I never tried to stop her from ordering it either. AITA here?

Does she come from a background where ordering the same dish as someone else is taboo? Family rule that ordering the same thing as another was wrong? Either way, most families just order whatever.
